Traditionally, only premium HDTV lenses were equipped with a built-in extender. However, the emergence of various new, lower-priced HD camcorders has fueled a growing demand for affordable HD lenses that include this feature. This is particularly vital for journalism and production sectors in pursuit of cost-efficient HD acquisition systems.
In response to this need, Canon is excited to introduce the KJ20x8.2B IRSD — an economically priced HDTV lens with a built-in extender. This lens enhances the capabilities of news and production teams by providing increased image framing flexibility. The KJ20x8.2B IRSD, Canon’s widest lens at 8.2mm in the cost-effective 20x category, now boasts an extended range of focal lengths thanks to its 2x built-in extender.
The introduction of new optical materials and multilayer optical coatings has successfully diminished optical anomalies like ghosting, flare, and veiling glare. These improvements are particularly effective against strong light sources present in various scenes, such as the sun during the day or car headlights at night.
